It is my pleasant duty to introduce you to the Faculty of Medicine at Parul University. We are part of a vibrant and dynamic University that is setting new standards for the country.
The Faculty of Medicine was established in 2016 and it is offering MBBS degree which will be recognized by the Medical Council of India. The first batch of 150 medical students has started for year 2016-17.
We are offering a 5.5 years course of study which is structured and it will provide a strong foundation in the basic sciences with an early introduction to the clinical sciences. The strength of this faculty is in the vast experience of the faculty who comprise a good mix of faculty from all over India with vast experiences.
We provide state-of- the-art anatomy and other science facilities to stimulate the interest of the students as they embark on a life-long course of learning the nuances of Medicine. We integrate basic science knowledge to the application of clinical problem solving skills. The bedside teaching and clinical skills will be taught at Parul Sevashram Hospital which is a 450 bedded multi specialty charitable trust hospital. The students will have the chance to apply the knowledge and skills learnt in the pre-clinical years to solving clinical problems presented by the patients under the guidance of some of the most experienced teachers.
The students will also learn about the referral systems in the primary health clinics and the networking between hospitals and the clinics both in the private and health sectors. The students will be provided guidance about communication skills which are so vital in Medicine and introduced to concept of Patient Safety, Ethics and Medical Jurisprudence at various times in the course. The students will learn how to conduct research that is relevant and beneficial for the patients and the community that they serve.
It is not all study at Parul University as the students will be living within a vibrant student community with a good mix of the various races and activities that will mould them to be a useful citizen of the global medical community. A doctor must be caring, compassionate and understanding while retaining humanistic values. I can assure you that our esteemed Medical Faculty will do our utmost to mould the students to be a doctor in the best traditions of the medical profession.
